Expertise and safety in anesthesia—the core of any top–notch surgery program—is the hallmark of Parkland Medical Center’s surgical services.
Your Best Choice for Anesthesia Services
For more than 20 years, our outstanding anesthesia team and specialized clinical staff have continued to deliver optimum patient–centered anesthesia care during surgery.
During any type of surgical procedure at Parkland Medical Center, your safety and comfort come first. That’s why you’ll find us taking a leadership role in clinical capabilities that support you while surgery is underway and help speed your recovery.
Before your procedure, your surgeon and anesthesia provider review your medical history and determine the most appropriate anesthesia for your specific situation. Your anesthesia provider will share that information with you and remain with you throughout your surgery to monitor your response.
Our board–certified anesthesiologists and certified nurse anesthetists offer multiple options for your care and comfort, including:
- General anesthesia – Used when performing major surgery to keep you asleep for the entire surgical procedure
- Regional anesthesia – Used frequently for surgery on the abdomen, arms or legs, with the option for you to stay awake; anesthetic injected into the spine numbs a portion of your body
- Monitored anesthesia (MAC) – Used for short, less invasive procedures, with the option for you to stay awake
