Cancers of the colon and rectum (colorectal) are the most common and preventable types of cancer in men and women. Small polyps, known as adenomas or growths in the colon or rectum, can lead to cancer. Few polyps, however, are cancerous.
Colorectal cancer screening
Early detection and treatment can prevent colorectal cancer from developing and improve survival rates, especially for people 50 years old or older. Screening at earlier ages may be recommended if you have a family history of colorectal cancer. We offer a full range of gastrointestinal services, including colonoscopy screenings, to detect colorectal cancer.
Colorectal cancer treatment
Through our oncology program, we'll develop a colorectal cancer treatment plan tailored to your specific diagnosis. Surgery is the most common cancer treatment, but we may also suggest chemotherapy, biotherapy or a combined approach.
If an invasive procedure is needed for treatment, our skilled cancer surgeons will always use the latest minimally invasive techniques to remove colorectal cancer and repair intestinal tissue. We may recommend chemotherapy for follow-up care, especially if lymph nodes are involved. We also perform preventive colorectal procedures to remove polyps.
