Derry, NH December 22, 2011 Employees, friends and community members of Parkland Medical Center and Parkland Physician Services raised more than 3,000 pounds of food as a result of this year's annual food drive. The food and personal care items will be distributed to St. Jude's Food Pantry in Londonderry, Rockingham Community Action in Salem, Shepherd's Pantry of Windham and Sonshine Soup Kitchen in Derry.

"The incredible outpouring of support for this food drive is exactly what makes the employees and staff at Parkland Medical Center not only outstanding caregivers, but also true community heroes," said Tina Legere, CEO at Parkland Medical Center. "I'm tremendously proud of the team and their generosity."

The food drive, which ran from December 2 to 21, was supported by hospital employees, staff from affiliated Parkland Physician Services, and their families. Parkland employees alone contributed 1,085 pounds of food to the drive. Market Basket of Londonderry also helped coordinate deliveries and assemble pallets of food for the local food pantries to accommodate the hospital's matching donation of $2,500 worth of food, bringing the final total of food donated to more than 3,000 pounds.
