HCA New England Healthcare, through HCA Healthcare Foundation’s Healthier Tomorrow Fund, has announced a $25,000 grant to The Granite YMCA to support and scale its blood pressure self-monitoring program by adding additional machines at two locations in Southern Manchester and Strafford County.

The Granite YMCA demonstrates its commitment to community health and wellness by providing blood pressure machines throughout its facilities in New Hampshire. These machines are conveniently accessible to members and guests at multiple branches, enabling individuals to regularly monitor and track their blood pressure as part of their overall health management.

“Monitoring blood pressure is critical for managing heart health and preventing hypertension, heart disease and stroke,” said Michele Sheppard, chief executive officer of The Granite YMCA. “We are grateful for this grant which will allow even more of our Y members and community residents access to check and track their blood pressure regularly. By offering free or low-cost health monitoring and education, The Granite YMCA, supported by HCA Healthcare, is helping to close the gap in healthcare access and reduce health disparities in vulnerable populations.”

The grant is part of the HCA Healthcare Foundation’s Healthier Tomorrow Fund, a $75 million community impact fund supporting innovative initiatives focused on addressing high-priority community needs and health equity.

“Supporting community health initiatives like The Granite YMCA's blood pressure self-monitoring program aligns perfectly with our goal of fostering healthier communities,” said John Skevington, chief executive officer of Catholic Medical Center, which recently joined HCA Healthcare. “This grant will enhance access to vital health resources, empowering individuals to take control of their heart health and ultimately contributing to a healthier tomorrow for everyone in our community.”
