Dr. O’Brien joins the Center from the world renowned Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, following completion of a breast surgical oncology fellowship. There she focused on the diagnosis and management of all forms of benign and malignant breast disease, as well as the screening of women at high risk for breast cancer. Dr. O’Brien’s specialties include the most advanced surgical procedures in breast surgery.

Birkett, MD, chair of the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center department of general surgery. “She brings to us 8 years of surgical training with a focus on surgical breast care , and is truly dedicated to the patients she works with every day.”

Dr. O’Brien, who was a breast surgery oncology fellow at Memorial Sloan-Kettering, has been practicing medicine since 2005 when she graduated from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, MA. She is a board-certified general surgeon, specializing in breast surgical oncology. Dr. O’Brien completed her residency at UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester, MA, where she was twice recognized as the H. Brownell Wheeler Outstanding Resident, and also received the UMass Surgical Society Alumni Award for Excellence in Student Surgical Education. She also holds an undergraduate degree from Providence College.

The Lahey Comprehensive Breast Health Center at Parkland Medical Center, which is operated in partnership with Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, recently relocated to 6 Tsienneto Road, Suite 204, Derry, NH and offers a streamlined and coordinated approach to the multi-faceted aspects of breast health and care. The Center provides the community with access to the latest in breast imaging, including digital mammography, breast ultrasound and breast MRI, minimally invasive breast biopsies, treatments for all types of benign and malignant breast disease, genetic counseling and risk assessment. The Center’s patient-focused care ensures that each patient is treated with the utmost compassion. Patients also have access to a designated nurse navigator who will oversee and help manage all aspects of care including appointments, social services, referrals, and treatments.
