Parkland partners with local law enforcement on Prescription Drug Take Back Day
Derry, NH — The Derry Police Department, Plaistow Police Department, Salem Police Department, Parkland Medical Center, South Central Public Health Network and Southern Rockingham Coalition For Healthy Youth will take part in the National Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Prescription Drug Take Back Day and “Crush the Crisis” effort from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26. The drug take back event gives the community a place to safely dispose of all prescription medications including unused or expired prescription drugs, over- the-counter medicines and opioid medications.
The DEA Prescription Drug Take Back Day and Crush the Crisis collection sites will be at the following locations:
- Derry Police Department, 1 Municipal Drive, Derry, NH
- Plaistow Emergency Room, 26 Plaistow Road, Plaistow, NH
- Salem Police Department, 9 Veterans Memorial Parkway, Salem, NH
Law enforcement officers will be collecting tablets, capsules and patches of Hydrocodone (Norco, Lortab, Vicodin), Oxycodone (Oxycontin, Percocet), Tramadol (Ultram), Codeine, Fentanyl (Duragesic), Morphine, Hydromorphone (Dilaudid) and Oxymorphone (Opana). Ointments, lotions, drops, liquid medication in leak-proof containers, vape cartridges without batteries and pet medication also will be accepted. Any medications will be accepted; however, needles, syringes, lancets or liquids will not be accepted.
As part of HCA Healthcare’s sixth annual national “Crush the Crisis” prescription drug take back day last year, more than 120 HCA Healthcare facilities from all 15 U.S. divisions partnered with local law enforcement. In total, approximately 13,136 pounds, equivalent to 9.02 million doses, of unused and expired prescription medications were collected.
