Parkland Medical Center receives Leapfrog ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade for sixth consecutive term
Derry, NH – Parkland Medical Center was awarded an ‘A’ from The Leapfrog Group’s fall 2019 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, marking a sixth consecutive ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade for the hospital. The designation recognizes Parkland Medical Center’s efforts in protecting patients from harm and meeting the highest patient safety standards in the United States.
Parkland is the only hospital in New Hampshire to receive an ‘A’ Grade Hospital Safety score for the past six consecutive terms and has received an ‘A’ grade eight of the nine past terms.
“Earning a Leapfrog Hospital Safety ‘A’ Grade for a sixth consecutive time validates our ongoing commitment to excellence and being a leading New Hampshire hospital for patient safety,” said Jeff Scionti, CEO of Parkland Medical Center. “We consistently measure every aspect of patient safety and continuously look for ways to improve and maintain the highest level of care and safety for our patients. Our focus is to ensure we protect our patients from harm from preventable errors, injuries and infections.”
Developed under the guidance of a national expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.
“‘A’ hospitals show us their leadership is protecting patients from preventable medical harm and error,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “It takes genuine commitment at every level – from clinicians to administrators to the board of directors – and we congratulate the teams who have worked so hard to earn this A.”
