Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy

Physical therapy is a dynamic healthcare field used to restore, develop and preserve optimal physical performance. Physical therapists treat people of all ages who have medical problems or other health-related conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives. Physical therapists also help prevent conditions associated with loss of mobility through fitness and wellness programs that achieve healthy and active lifestyles. Physical therapists examine individuals and develop plans using treatment techniques that promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability.

Inpatient Physical Therapy

Inpatient physical therapists work with the inpatient rehabilitation team to form an individualized treatment program designed to get patients functioning independently in activities such as walking and stair climbing prior to discharge. Through therapeutic exercise, balance and mobility training, therapists try to maximize return of function as quickly as possible. Physical therapists work with discharge planners to ease the transition from Parkland Medical Center to other healthcare facilities or home.
