Oncology Nurse Navigators

Parkland oncology nurse navigators are your advocate, helping to reinforce and support the physician/patient relationship. Our goal is to enhance your quality of life, provide a sense of autonomy and help you manage your own health. By guiding cancer patients with knowledgeable and supportive help, our oncology-trained nurse navigators improve care experiences, assist physicians and maintain quality outcomes.

The oncology nurse navigator’s role is to:

  • Facilitate communication between all members of the healthcare team
  • Provide education on disease processes, treatment options and clinical trial availability
  • Help patients make informed decisions about their care
  • Coordinate office visits across medical disciplines to streamline cancer care delivery
  • Help provide uninterrupted and timely care
  • Serve as a reliable and trusted source with answers to varied questions
  • Organize multidisciplinary team conferences to promote collaboration in cancer treatment
  • Provide a personalized touch to cancer care by visiting patients at appointments, assessing patients’ needs and relaying relevant information to providers
  • Help decrease barriers to care by advocating for patients’ needs and linking them with resources
