Cancer Clinical Trials and Research

Creating safe drugs and effective treatments for cancers and other diseases requires significant research and testing before the therapies can be offered to patients. Participation in cancer clinical trials gives researchers more opportunity to develop drugs that may someday help you or your loved ones.

Your First Choice for Cancer Clinical Trials & Research

As part of our mission, Parkland Medical Center continually provides the most advanced services available. We offer qualified patients a variety of opportunities to participate in clinical research trials—especially Phase III trials—in collaboration with the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, the National Cancer Institute, industry sponsors and the Sarah Cannon Research Institute.

Take advantage of the knowledge and resources available through our clinical trials nurse—a research professional also involved in managing our clinical trials as an administrator, coordinator, consultant and educator—who plays a critical role in planning, establishing and providing clinical trials at Parkland.

Talk with your physicians about participating. They work with our clinical trials nurse to determine whether you qualify, and, if you do, they’ll discuss the nature of the trials with you and your family.

Sarah Cannon Research Institute

Even if you don’t remember the old–time country comedienne with the price tag still hanging from her hat, the woman who brought Minnie Pearl to life—Sarah Cannon—makes a significant contribution to cancer research. Before her death, Cannon established a namesake Nashville–based organization that sponsors many leading pharmaceutical trials and other cancer–related research in which Parkland Medical Center participates.
