Welcomes Rebecca C. Yang, MD, as medical director of new Lahey Comprehensive Breast Care Center

Parkland Medical Center is pleased to announce the opening of a new comprehensive breast health center, designed to provide the latest advancements in surgical and nonsurgical breast care here in the Derry community.

The center, which is operated in partnership with Lahey Clinic, is located at 14 Tsienneto Road, Suite 302, and offers a streamlined and coordinated approach to the multi-faceted aspects of breast health and care. The center provides our community with access to the latest in breast imaging, including digital mammography, breast ultrasound and breast MRI, minimally invasive breast biopsies, treatments for benign and malignant breast disease, genetic counseling and risk assessment. The center’s patient-focused care ensures that each patient is treated with respect and compassion. Patients also have access to a designated nurse navigator who will oversee and help manage appointments, social services, referrals, and treatments.

Rebecca C. Yang, MD, is the Breast Center’s newly appointed medical director. Dr. Yang is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed her internship and fellowship in Breast Surgery at Case Western Reserve University. She is board certified by the American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Yang has been an active member of the Lahey Clinic General Surgery staff, maintaining a robust practice specializing in breast care and women’s health. She helped develop the Comprehensive Breast Health Center at Lahey Clinic Medical Center, North Shore, in Peabody, Mass., where she also currently serves as medical director. There, as well as at the new Derry location, Dr. Yang focuses on the diagnosis and management of all forms of benign and malignant breast disease, as well as the screening of women at high risk for breast cancer.

Breast cancer affects more than 200,000 women every year. It is one of the most commonly diagnosed female cancers, accounting for nearly one out of every three cancer diagnoses in the United States. At the Comprehensive Breast Health Center, physicians, nurses and staff provide services for women with all types of breast cancer, including ductal carcinoma in situ, infiltrating (invasive) ductal carcinoma, lobular carcinoma in situ, infiltrating (invasive) lobular carcinoma, inflammatory breast cancer, Paget’s disease and phyllodes tumors.
