Parkland Medical Center
January 25, 2016

Harvard Pilgrim Health Care recently announced that Parkland Medical Center has been named to its Hospital Honor Roll. The ninth-annual Honor Roll acknowledges adult, acute care hospitals whose performance was among the top 25 percent of those measured nationally on a set of composite quality and patient experience measures, as reported by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on Hospital Compare and the Leapfrog Group’s Leapfrog patient safety measures. In addition to Parkland Medical Center, eight other New Hampshire hospitals were named to the honor roll.

“Harvard Pilgrim is proud to recognize Parkland Medical Center for providing our members with high quality care,” said Eric H. Schultz, president and CEO, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. “In this time of great change in health care, we want to commend these hospitals for their focus and dedication to quality and patient safety.”

“This recognition from Harvard Pilgrim Health Care is another example of our team’s focus on providing exceptional care that is both safe and effective.” said Chris Accashian, CEO at Parkland Medical Center.

Honor Roll hospitals are noted in Harvard Pilgrim’s printed and online provider directories as well as on the organization’s web site and its Now iKnow cost and quality transparency tool, enabling consumers to select hospitals based on quality and safety performance. Hospitals were evaluated on processes of care in four categories: cardiac; pneumonia; surgery — preventing infections; and surgery — preventing complications. The results of patient surveys measuring patient hospital experiences were also considered. Lastly, Harvard Pilgrim factored in CMS patient safety measures such as healthcare associated infections, and Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) patient safety composite scores.

The 2015 Hospital Honor Roll includes these New Hampshire adult, acute care hospitals:

• Catholic Medical Center, Manchester
• Cheshire Medical Center, Keene
• Concord Hospital, Concord
• Littleton Regional Healthcare, Littleton
• New London Hospital, New London
• Parkland Medical Center, Derry
• Portsmouth Regional Hospital, Portsmouth
• St. Joseph Hospital, Nashua
• Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster
