A Small Town
Imagine a storybook family town just a stone’s throw from two major cities. That’s what you’ll find in Derry and surrounding communities. Located in the Southern part of New Hampshire, Derry is only 12 miles from Manchester, NH, 45 miles to the coast, and just 40 miles from Boston, Massachusetts.
Derry offers a variety of family activities and attractions to its 34,000 residents. The town has a childrens’ museum, cinemas and performing arts facilities, plus playgrounds, skateboard parks, athletic fields, tennis courts, outdoor basketball courts, a public gymnasium, beaches with boat launches, two golf courses and a variety of hiking trails. Youth sports (including baseball, soccer, football, basketball and hockey) are available year round. Gallien’s Beach offers swimming, kayaking and fishing for town residents. Area communities host several annual events, including DerryFest, Strawberry Festival and Old Home Days, plus the Holiday Parade, one of the largest in all of New Hampshire.
Of course, the biggest attraction of all is probably the area’s proximity to remarkable skiing. Derry is located within a few hours of 12 major ski resorts with mountains ranging from beginner to World Cup-caliber slopes.
The area offers multiple public and private elementary and secondary schools with excellent student to teacher ratios. Several colleges, technical schools and universities are also located within a 35-mile radius.
